The Place to be (Part II)
Thoughts. Not necessarily in a stream.

Do I have to be this free?

This is my dog Bonnie. She has just had a bath and is sitting on the grass looking pretty and saying hi. She wants you to pet her. Well.. aren't you going to pet her?
I am so insanely free. As compared to him. He who joins the busiest committee in hall infamous for their overnight meetings, he who has a whopping 8 midterm papers to complete, he who has to go for infinitely long and countless project meetings. I however, attend 4 lectures a week, one tutorial in 2 weeks, the rest of the time is spent on lab, which doesn't require ALOT of work either, only at certain periods. Other than that, I'm free! Free to actually start studying for exams! Hahaha. I better get cap 5.0 this sem, or else I'll never be getting it. But one thing's for sure, I am so completely in love. So in love that he could be as busy as the president of the USA (eh wait, actually he quite free hor) and I'll still be alright with it, as long as I get to spend those few moments with him, eating lunch, talking and laughing, being held by those big strong arms and looking into those big puppy dog eyes. URGH. Help lar.
You know how its scary if you love someone too much. The risk of getting hurt just multiplies and gets bigger with every moment spent being together, making memories. Its come to that point where I know I would be absolutely devastated if he left, cos I know I wouldn't be able to find someone like that again. Let's just hope he never leaves.
My dog is looking absolutely horrific. I don't know what happened while I was away but Bonnie (my black lab you see above) first started developing some white rings around her eyes. And now one of the rings have swelled becoming bloody and pus-filled to the state where she's starting to look like a leper! And what's more the hair under her neck area has fallen out and you can see her neck is covered by some kind of rash, and her butt is hairless too! I'm terribly upset. And the worse thing is bringing her to the vet would probably result in a treatment costing us hundreds of dollars. Whereas perhaps purchasing some ointment at the neighbourhood pet store would proove effective, and cost-friendly too. I wish going to the vet wasn't so expensive. But I guess its kind of our fault too, we never really looked after the dogs that well. They're kept outdoors and sleep on the floor where they're probably terrorised by flies and insects, and they're bathed once a week, which should be sufficient, but I guess more effort could have been taken to keep them clean. Like maybe brushing them down every now and then. Sighs, I would if I had the time I suppose.
Played tennis just now, and the day before. The folks are going crazy over it. Playing tennis with boyfriend tomorrow too, that makes 3 consecutive days of tennis. Wow I am fit. I used to be unfit, or rather, unathletic. I never joined sports. I was in the Band in school. Yes, I played the drums and percussion instruments. I hardly exercised, unless I was forced to, which is what the government does, enforces exercise into the school curriculum to weed out the fat kids. I was never fat though, never. Always skinny. Now that I'm older, the fat has started to pile up (although mind you, I'm still pretty skinny), mainly at the tummy and the backs of my thighs. Unsightly. The boyfriend is a health freak, he exercises whenever he gets the chance to, resulting in nice firm abs and a cute perky ass too :P So you see, I have to keep up. Not that I'm complaining, I'm actually interested in seeing whether I can really develop abs. I think it takes alot of work though, probably a hundred sit-ups a day or something to that extent. Boyfriend says just running will do the trick, well it has helped me do away with all the fat I accumulated from the US trip (where I ate fries and chickin every day..woot). But the flabby abs still remain. I swear, the day will come where I shall sit down and only have pure muscled abs and not fatty tyres spilling over my the belt of my jeans. Then I'll start wearing a bikini to school and let you take pictures too. Hah.

Do I look fat and hairy?

This is me telling you to wake up early every morning, eat a croissant accompanied by hot creamy coffee with the dog at your feet and smell the clean fresh air. Don't worry about the suspicious stench coming from the dog.. it has every right to fart, just as we do.
I look fat today somehow, and I shouldn't have worn shoes with a skirt, they make my thighs look big and ankles thick. Skirts go so much better with heels or slippers even. Not shoes, especially with socks that go above the ankles. And with the accompanying leg-hair that was left to grow astray and unkempt.. the need to epilate has just become top priority on the to-do list.
Ok, have just epilated. Haha, legs are now silky smooth and hairless, save for a few rebel strands hiding around the nooks and crannies behind my knees or which managed to successfully escape my perceptive eye. I wish we didn't grow hair in areas other than our heads (and perhaps in our nostrils, but even then, not TOO much hair pls). Its just such an eyesore!! And its of totally no use... it doesn't keep us warm like how it works for those other animals, and its certainly not much a fashion trend to have a leghair-style or a fanciful armpit shaven design. And people who are just born hairless are just so lucky. No daily need to shave/epilate/wax, no need to endure the painful procedure of plucking eyebrows or the insane idea of putting hot wax on sheer skin and ripping out hair from their very roots (I just wonder who the hell would come up with such an idea). And men have it easy, they don't have to worry about hairy legs or armpits for that matter, unless of course you're some kind of model. All they have to do is shave their faces everyday, and its not like us women don't do the same with our armpits. They grow out so fast don't they!? It's infuriatingly distressing. And why does shaving make hair come out THICK and WIRY and grow 10x as fast? WHY?
Am in the lab now and its 7.30 in the morning. The above was written yesterday btw. Yes my legs are still smooth and silky, though now modestly covered in a pair of jeans. I'm here so early because I have something evil to do. Actually I'm rather late, was supposed to wake up at 6 but ended up waking up 45 min late, which makes me all the more eviller (if there's such a word, which I know there isn't) :( I'll be dosing 2 poor little mice with an overdose of panadol. Yes. I'm going straight to hell aren't I. And what's more, I fasted them last night, which means they're starving right now. And more time wasted (waking up late) means more time the poor mice go without food. So that would actually be 15 hrs of fasting and with the additional 8 hrs incubation with panadol, 23 hrs altogether, almost an entire day without food! And that's a lot for a mouse. Poor mice. Anyway, waiting for the drug to dissolve now, did you ever know that panadol is not particularly very soluble in water? Actually I should have realised that before. My mum used to crush the tablet between two spoons into a powdery mix and add a little water before giving it to me to down. I couldn't swallow big big tablets at the time, and panadol was considered big to me. Now however, I think I can swallow just about anything. Haha. In relation to pills that is. :P
There's always something nice about being awake so early, the air smells fresher and there are fewer people up and about. Right now the office is empty and I'm probably all alone on the whole floor. Even the main office people aren't around. Which means.. I get to break all the rules. Hahahaa.. rules are meant to be broken anyway. Bought ice coffee and carried it into and out of lab, just for kicks. Hope there aren't any cameras, besides, its not that big of a deal, its not like I brought in a hot plate of chicken rice that would stink up the whole lab (which some of my colleagues actually did). Talking about stinks, there was this god-awful smell at my hostel last night. It lingered around the area outside the lift on my floor, possibly emnating from the dustbin. Honestly, it smelled like SHIT. Which makes me think who would shit in the dustbin? Haha. Perhaps a dog or cat shitted and someone was clever enough to throw the shit in the common bin where people pass by all the time. Man, it was bad. And I was doing laundry too last night so I had to keep taking the lift and getting confronted and abused by that terrible stench. The smell even diffused into the lift, forcing me to hold my breath and look around suspiciously for the source, which failed to show itself.
Argh, it's almost 8 and the drug is still stubbornly not completely dissolved. What a bother. And you know panadol turns pink after being heated up and sonicated for too long. Nobody really knows why tho'. Pink is such a precocious colour. Haha.
Do I need a reason for being here?

This is me shouting at you to turn the TV on and let your brain soak up the waves of insightful yet sometimes useless information.. I find it rather entertaining and also... stimulating. And don't give me that crap about TV being no good for you...you know you want it.
You know how it is when you finally decide to write something down to share with the whole entire world, you get stumped, then you end up wondering what would be the one thing that would actually interest the audience, captivate their attention, and eventually gain their admiration. Then it evolves into writing something that isn't really yourself, more of something that you'd think people will like. Why is that?
Today I had an important presentation. All 70 of us, in a room, showing the judges what we were made of. Some people dressed up smartly, others didn't bother. I had no choice but to not bother, all my smart clothes were back home, or shall we just say, out of reach. We were to present our slithering, sexy, shameless belly-dancing to 2 VIPs who would come anytime from 9am to 12pm. Okay okay, it wasn't belly-dancing, that would be interesting tho, seeing specky people in suits get jiggy. It was more like a poster of sorts, of our experiments. I waited and waited for the 2 VIPs, 2 strangers came round and I presented to them too.. just for fun I guess. Also was good practice. And so I continued to wait, and soon everyone was seen standing around in groups, sharing how they felt about their presentations which they already finished. Where were my 2 VIPs?! It started getting worrisome, people were asking me how my presentations were and when I said I haven't given one, they would give me this wide-eyed stare accompanied my overtones of concern and shock (and perhaps hidden glee, but naw, I would think they were all nice people), and tell me to perhaps enquire the co-ordinator, which I had already done. She was of no use. Oh well, in the end, driven to desperate measures as the clock struck 11, I called my Prof (VIP of all VIPs, also a very nice man), and asked for the names of my examiners. One of them I knew, and the other one was this all-important HOD (head of department). I called the one I knew and ushered him down, heh, he was amused at my concern. And they both turned up at the same time.. great, the more the jollier. I could give one session of 'belly-dancing' without repitition. Just as I was beginning, the HOD took away my reference cards and hid it somewhere out of sight (thankfully not out of mind), so I was left with pure memory and a surge of adrenaline. Thanks very much. Was a good thing I already had practice and I prattled on about my project as they nodded like good old wise men. Questions were asked, some of which were unanswerable, and they both agreed mine was indeed a worthy project which would yield very relevant results. Woot. Its all thanks to the VIP of VIPs, my dear Prof who was nice enough to give me a chance.
Life is full of chances really, its whether you dare to take them on or not. Back in the old days, I was more of a timid child. Someone who stood at the sidelines while everyone got along and mingled, who was too afraid to say something which might strike an upset in the whole balance of things. But I feel that has changed. With age, comes experience, with experience comes failures, with failures come lessons, and with lessons come new ways to do things better. And people just love to interact anyway, it's just refreshing being exposed to a warm living person with a fresh set of ideas, unique experiences and perhaps hidden lessons in the form of advice. However, I have not morphed into someone totally obnoxiously loud or even moderately out-spoken, but things will come out of my mouth when the time calls for it. And perhaps even when uncalled for, its just fun to make noise and see how people react sometimes :P
So right now, here I am, a warm living person with a fresh set of ideas. Presenting myself to you, just for your reading pleasure. Which is why blog-reading can be addictive, especially if you're addicted to the character itself. Its almost like you know the person, and he/she exists in your daily world, the little world you live in, but which can be expanded in ways we can never imagine. I'm not too complex to understand. No, really. Perhaps complexity arises when we keep things to ourselves, in our little brains where no one can reach (and I hope it stays that way). I'm a young adult (refuse to reveal age), I have a nice family, 2 big black dogs which are loveable in their own special way, a very nice boyfriend (I say he's nice because he is, although sometimes.. a little.. irritating :P), school (my last year tho', sobs), friends (mostly fellow girlfriends whom I can gripe about life with), and I live by myself right now (in school actually) so freedom abounds :D I like it that way. You'll hear me griping about work tho, mostly laboratory work in school. Yes, I kill mice for science. I know its nasty, and I feel its horrible because I wouldn't ever want to be a lab mouse. To get jabbed by needles, fed toxic drugs and get cut up too isn't a very pleasurable existence. But I do it for the experience, which may proove useful in future, and hey I don't think I'll ever get a better Prof, he's Super! :D Things will change very soon once I start working tho', I have no idea what I'll end up with. Really hope it'll be something good, but that's many months away, so don't bother me now work-stress and classified ads!
I used to have a blog, a private one that was password protected (mainly to prevent certain people from reading it) but got sick of the disparingly plain layout and hence decided to migrate over to Blogspot. Quite possibly the world's most commonly used blog server. I'm common, so sue me. Its all due to my inadequacy in HTML literacy, I need Frontpage to come up with something decent and altogether, its just too much effort. So that's the reason why I'm here.
