Just another wkend

About last wkend:
"Just finished watching Singapore Idol. Throughout the show, I kept thinking how the whole set could have looked better, the lighting, the camera angles, the bored-looking choir clad in forgettable black, the hidden band, the background music, Gurmit's jacket. It wouldn't be a surprise if this is the last Singapore Idol, which is what I heard. Apparently the Spore population of 4 million isn't sufficient to provide a wide enough talent pool for carrying out an English singing competition, and the tv audience has dropped by 30%. Anyway, the only thing that saved the show was the last song sung by Hady Mirza. 'You give me wings' or something like that. Jon made the song sound dull and boring, but Hady made it sound so much more alive and uplifting. So now you know who I'm rooting for." ---written last wkend

So I was right and Hady won. Anyway, the results show kinda sucked too. Mathilda really sucks at lip-synching, of which they shouldn't be doing in the first place. But I guess that's why they got kicked out.

I'm actually writing this this wkend, so I'm trying to recall what I did last wkend. Oh yeah, on friday I met up with the bf for dinner in school. Then we went to watch Sher's concert in KR. It wasn't really her concert, but some of her band members were playing, which included this cute drummer boy. I have a soft spot for drummers, don't ask me why. Especially good ones, and he was a darn good one. Anyway, according to Sher, he thought I was cute too because we met at my boss' housewarming party which Sher's band was playing at :) So I still Got it baby, yeah! Haha, too bad the boy's only 21.. that kinda shocked me, knowing there were men younger than me which I potentially could be interested in. Hm. Anyway, since it was Sher's bday that day, we went clubbing at dblO. Man, drinks there are dirt cheap can! $11 per jug of housepour! Woot~ Got pretty high and danced the night away. Saw fire-dancers too. Got picked up like 3 times.. there are too many men in that place. Probably all desperate NS boys I think. Didn't get too friendly though, aside from this Scottish guy from work, which turned out to be a little embarrassing on monday but we're pretending nothing happened. Don't worry, nothing really serious happened.. don't tell adrian! :x

Saturday, met up with the boyfriend in the evening. Had a killer hangover that morning though. I actually puked the night before once I got home, which was the first time I ever puked after alcohol. We went to suntec and had food court food cos we were both broke. Then then.. we walked ard and he had to go home early to meet his relatives which he didn't arrive home in time to catch. He blames me. As usual :P Which is why u'll find this wkend's post to be extremely boring because he spent all his time either in school doing his project or at home with relatives. Bleh. Leaving me to spend my time at home .. updating this blog. :\ Sunday was spent playing tennis with family as usual. Oh.. and watchin Spore idol.

This wkend:

Before I delve into this wkend, I actually went out on wed to watch The Banquet (zhang zi yi film) with Blondie and another girl (this industrial placement student also from UK). Man it was a real bloody show (literally) but also pretty good.. love the cinematographics. The blood looked so real the way it spurted out and the colour of it, and how it clotted around the old man's mouth. I should know cos my job involves collecting rat blood. Ziyi's eyebrows were weird-looking tho. haha, Blondie made a joke about it. I was saying how weird it would be if she was out on the streets with her eyebrows looking like that, and Blondie said she would probably just draw her eyebrows in with RED eyebrow liner.. which was what was being used in the film. But it was really pretty though, the set, the costumes.. the men in the film were pretty hot too. I liked the more feminine looking Crown Prince while the other 2 liked the macho hot brother. I don't mind either of them honestly.. haha :P Well after that we went to MacDonalds (it was the only thing open) to eat burgers and nuggets and fries we talked more about men. And how Singapore is far too conservative for us women to meet more than 5 men. I guess it differs from person to person, but I think the average Spore girl would only date 3-4 men before settling down. And Singaporean men are too boring anyways, where are the hippies and men willing to do fun crazy stuff? none of those anymore I'm afraid.. Anyway, moving on..

Oh the only interesting thing that has happened in the wkend so far is my date with Dris at the Starlight Cinema on friday night. She had free tix so we went to watch Pirates of the Carribean II. Bought subway sandwiches, dorito chips and 2 cans of Heineken :D Best part is dris couldn't finish her heini so I finished it for her. Haha. Anyway, movie seemed interesting but there was so much going on me and Dris were both blur on the specifics. We got free air cushions though! From the man who was fixing the cables, apparently we're special cos he only gave them to us :P People around us were staring at us enviously. Thankfully, they didn't see us desperately blowing the pillows till we were red-faced, all to no avail in the first few minutes.. only later discovering that we had to press the airhole entrance to let air get in properly. Now who would have known that. No instructions came with it ya know. Well it was really pretty there tho.. the screen was set against the city skyline and with the city hall courthouse to the right. It was a cool windy night and the movie crowd consisted of couples drinking wine to families all sharing one blanket and little kids dancing to the band which played before the movie started. Rather romantic. hah.

Saturday was rainy rainy rainnyyy... spent most of it sleeping. Hopefully tomorrow it will be sunshiny and we can go check out the wakeboarding competition. Shall bring Beth (my dog) to terrorize the wakeboarders.. muhaha. Omg I can't believe I slept the whole day and I still feel like I can go to sleep any moment. I think my eyes are getting infected or something.. they're perpetually dry and tired.

No pics today... sowwee.. its jus another wkend.. hope you guys enjoyed it~

another weekend gone

(this was typed on sunday night but posted on mon night because of photo-loading issues :|)

It's sunday night again. Next week is going to be really busy.. almost a hundred rats need to be culled. Thank god I have help from Chiu and Ling or else I would probably be driven insane at the paranoia of feeling a flinch when taking out the hundreds of rat brains in the underground animal lab :| This saturday was the life sci career fair and for once I wasn't attending it as an undergrad, rather I was attending as a booth-mender, or to the youthful hopeful students..a potential employer who can promise a chance of working at one of the leading pharmas in the world. I realise I'm pretty lucky to have landed this job, all the students I talked to looked at me in wide-eyed admiration and envy. And all of them ask me how did I manage to get in? What did I do? Was I very zai or what? Haiyah, not really lah. All I did was write a good resume, email and ask whether there were any open positions and go for the interview! So I tell them to check website and email HR, and then they give me that suspicious look which says "Is she just trying to get rid of me? Are they here just to show face and give away free brochures, bags and pens?" Which is partly true I have to agree, but hey, I'm WORKIN here.. on a SATURDAY ya know!

Anyway, it did let me have a chance to stay over at Adriano's. Heh. Things are going pretty well these days. We decided to start afresh and you know, be nicer to each other, stop the blaming and the quarelling and all that drudgery. Now its just like when we were starting out.. but much better somehow cos we already know each other so well. We can talk much easier and things are alot lighter and we're so much more loving and we have much more fun on dates. And he's actually getting less superficial nowadays, especially after we went to watch Devil Wears Prada. Haha, in case you guys didn't catch the MORAL OF THE STORY. No.. the show isn't about the nice clothes, and the nice hair (although yes, they do look great, and it would be lovely to look like anne hathaway with her tall lanky frame and elegant funky outfits).. but really it boils down to what the boyfriend said at the end of the show "Looks like it's not good to be Fabulous." :D So proud of him, he's improving in leaps and bounds! haha.

Anyway, I spent money again. Went shopping last wed with my cubicle-mate, let's call her blondie, cos she really is blonde, haha. Anyway she's a really nice girl from UK and we hit it off pretty well. Love her sense of humour, its so Brit. And her fashion sense is also impeccable, and she likes earrings and shiny stuff so shopping with her has turned out to be dangerous and pressurizing on the wallet! Bought a bag for $56!! (its lovely tho, not outrageous, but it's simple and stylish and dark green and I needed a going-out bag desperately anyway, was carrying this cheap Fila bag which I see everyone else carrying!). Bought some shades for $15.90 (it's alright looking, but not as stylish as I would like it to be, but I needed something to make me look cool while rollerblading.. HAH :P), and 2 pairs of earrings which came out to $23 (I know you're thinking that's crazy, but these were special earrings! They're so pweety and intricately designed and you probably can't find those designs anywhere else. And Blondie was buying them like crazy so I had to make her feel a little bit better on herself din I? :D) Anyway, I even bought nail buffer and remover to keep my nails smooth, healthy and shiny. Ok, working has made me vain and pampered. Shit.

So by the time the weekend arrived I was feeling too poor to do any other kind of lavish spending. Me and bf did go shopping though, and I bought ESSENTIAL stuff like lab shoes. I've been needing these. Been wearing my stinky old converse shoes which is such a hassle to put on and honestly smell real bad. These are comfy and I love the soles, you'll never slip and fall in the lab ever!

Oh and here's the pictures I promised from the dress-up party. Guy in the afro is my boss, and you can see blonde cubicle-mate in there too (she's the one who develops wide anime eyes mysteriously after a few hundred sips of bombay sapphire)!

We even had a REAL Scottish man wear his kilt to the party. He was wearing shorts tho :P

When did Kermit migrate to China and take up smoking?!

I came as a giraffe btw. But I'm guessing from the pic that my friend wasn't very amused about it.

That's it for now.. will TRY to update more regularly next time :P Toodles~
